My wife regularly receives credit card offers in her maiden name even though she legally changed her name when we got married over 10 years ago (her maiden name is now her middle name). She recently received a CSP targeted offer for the 80k SUB that we are interested in, but it is in her maiden name and will not allow her to correct her name on the application. Can/should she apply for the offer in her maiden name and if accepted go through the process of changing her name with Chase, or is it likely she will be denied or have to go through special ID verification since her name has been legally changed? Especially interested if anyone has any experience with this. Thanks!
Do her credit reports (Experian in particular) list her maiden name as an alias?
Yes. We pulled her credit reports and her maiden name is shown on each of them.
Yes apply for it then when approved call in and change the name on the card. We have done it due to mistakes in the spelling of our name.
That's good to know. I was hesitant to apply given the name discrepancy but may go ahead and give it a shot since it has worked for you. Thanks for the input!
As an update, she applied for the card last night and when I called the status hotline this morning it said she had been approved and card will arrive in 10 days. @Anonymous did you immediately call and change your name or wait until the card arrived? Thanks again for the help!
Thanks for the update @Anonymous and congrats on DW getting approved.
