Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

I am thinking of applying for Chase Freedom to get the nice rewards that they have. I have read some articles and confirmed that the rewards they give are indeed in the caegories where I spend.

I have spent some signficant mount in my citi forward (laptop, dslr etc) and have paid off everything on time. See my signature to know my card app history.

Is my account ready for another (Chase Freedom) application?

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Chase wants to see the history. From what I read here, they want to see at least a year and a half of history. How old is your oldest card?

Less than one year revolving history is a common denial reason on the Freedom; it's not impossible as we've had some reports otherwise, but AFAIK in almost all cases those people had banked with Chase for a while prior to their application.

Not sure where 1.5 years came from here but my memory is admittedly getting worse as I get older.

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Thank you for your reply.

My first card was in (and I still use it) Oct 2011. It was the Wells Fargo Secured Card. It has graduated now. The other card is citi Forward (applied in August), which is my main card right now and am using it since Oct 2012.

Is it early for Chase Freedom?

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

Thanks for the definition!

I would say your history is right at the minimum amount that Chase wants to see, so you'd have a chance at getting the card but for better chances, you may want to wait a little longer.

Re: Applying for an unsecured Credit Card

I don't know. You can call them and ask them if you have any preapproval offers under your name. If you do, it is likely you will get approved.
