Approved For BOA Secured Card

I sent my application in the mail a week an a half ago i called today to check on the status of the application the rep told me your application is pending because your deposit check has to clear once that happen your card will be mailed.

So i asked her are you saying I'm approved an your just waiting on the check to clear she told me YES after the check clears your card will be mailed.

I really hope this is gonna open the door for a unsecured card with BOA in the near future.

Super Congrats mjbfan!!!!!

BofA's secured card program is absolutely phenomenal.

Just make your monthly payments early (worst case, on time)

and the card should graduate to unsecured status in about 9 months.

That's the timeframe that other forum members who've had that card

have shared here in the room.

Once the card goes unsecured, look for BofA to increase your limit to $1,000.

Other forum members have reported CLI's of as much as $10,000 within

12-18 months from the date the card goes unsecured.

So yes, take GOOD care of that card and all doors will be opened to you.

BofA secured is a good as it gets!!!! I had an emerging(Coded like secured) card from BOFA, after 6 months it "emerged" and I got a CLI from $500 to $7,500. That was in june and I got a CLI from $7,500 to $10,000 this month so take care of it!

Yes the rep told be they will reevaluate my account once i had the card 9 months for a possible unsecured approval.

So do they make your secured card unsecured or do you have to apply for a new card?

They "unsecure" your existing account (i.e. you keep the same account number) and refund your deposit.  It also then reports as an unsecured revolving account.   Congrats on getting your foot in the door with BoA!
