I had a weird experience with AMEX, I declared C7 Bankruptcy in 1999 and discharged an AMEX card in the amount of ~$3,000. Well in 2017 I applied for an AMEX card, was approved, only used it a couple time and kept it payed off. Then last month I got a notice from my credit monitoring service that my AMEX account was "closed by grantor". I figured it had simply been closed for non-use as I hadn't put a charge on it for over a year. However, when I got the notice in the mail it said the account had been closed due to "prior charged off AMEX account". Lol! I guess somebody at AMEX must have done a search of 20 year old charge off records and flagged my account.

A retro active blackilst - that's remarkable if the case. Where boths cards Green charge cards?

The card that was discharged in bankruptcy in 1999 was a card I had gotten in college a few years prior, Optima Student card, if I recall? (it's been 20 years).

The card they just cancelled on me was a Blue Cash Preferred card.

Ouch! That makes bad prospects for some others if they are going to start doing that to people.

Capital One: Savor WEMC, Venture X Visa Infinite
Chase: Freedom U Visa Signature, CSR Visa Infinite
Citibank: AAdvantage Platinum WEMC
Elan/US Bank: Fidelity Visa Signature
Credit Union: Cash Back Visa Signature

Re: Are Blacklists Real?

With Amex if you pay them back for the money you owe them, higher probability of getting back on the platform. <——. Direct quote from a supervisor there.

With Chase, many people who have had charge offs eventually get back in. Factors included in that are the amount you burned them for and how long ago. <—— words from their credit bureau specialist

I had a Slate card from 2008-2010 with $5000 CL and it was charged off Jan 2011. Since then I’ve opened a chase checking account & have pre approval for 3 of their cards via credit journey. Will be applying for CSP in late December early January.

Not sure about other lenders policies/practices
