Are banks still opening new cards & giving out CLI's for high credit scores? My credit score is above 800. Just how tight are the lending standards today? How likely are they to open accounts and give out CLI's to people with excellent credit scores? If not now, then how about in 3-4 months from now?

still has plenty of activity....and lots of approvals for scores under 800.
Any particular lender/product you have in mind?

Not exactly handing out the candy like they once were, but still a decent amount of Approval's & CLI's.

Scores are not the only thing Banks consider when giving out credit so having an 800 score while pretty isnt the be all tell for approvals. Usually 800 scores can get easier approvals in the best of times but we no longer are in best of times. No one here can tell you the future so months from now is wishful thinking lol. In my humble opinion if you have 800 scores, havent been credit seeking recently and have a stable income, your chances at a new card/ cli are much better than say a person with 800 scores who just lost their job. Its best to add as much dp about your current credit file and what specifically are you interested in.
I snagged a Sync PayPal MC for a credit score under 700 a month and a half ago, so sure.

😅😅😅
Banks are still in business and still lending. They are naturally more cautious (especially with unsecured loans). It's hard to say when they will begin to be less cautious: given how much money the Fed has put in circulation, it's quite likely that banks will loosen standards a bit when the end of pandemic is in sight (i.e.: a vaccine is approved) and employment numbers begin to stabilize. My bet: February-March 2021.
Well if banks are no longer opening credits and CLIs to people with 800 scores then we all have much bigger problems to worry about!
with scores over 800 I don't see why any bank would not want to lend money out. Based on other stories here it's safe to say they are. Good luck
