Does anyone know if BECU does a HP or a SP for a CLI request? If it's an HP, I will pass, but if they do it with a SP like Navy, then I would roll the dice. I'm thinking it's a HP, because of the way you have to go about requesting one. You go through the "Apply For a New Loan" section and instead of checking the box for applying for a new card, you check the box to increase the limit on an existing card.
TIA!
Unless they've quietly changed their procedures it will be a Transunion hard pull.
Yep, BECU is a hard pull for consumer initiated CLI requests as far as I know.
I have this card. It is a TU hard pull. BECU has done auto CLI's on my account about once a year without requesting. However, the one time that I did do a hard pull for a CLI I got a $10,000 CLI without providing any proof of income.
Just recently completed a cli with BECU Visa. Submitted online, previous cl $15,300, hard ull of TU (cost me two points), resulted in a cli to $35,300. That was a good use of two points in my opinion. My becu visa has ~1.5 years perfect pay, my scores in the 735/739/740, no derogatories of any kind, cred util at <50% at time of application for cli, 15 year TU file, and income $ 103,300. So of course your mileage may vary. However, compared to burning a HP on a new account to only get a $5k limit, I think it was worth it for me. I am also hopeful that other creditors mirror the credit limit in the months to come when evaluating my cli requests.
