BOA won't give a CLI for 6 years for me??

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Okay, so I called today to ask about the status of my CLI on my travel rewards. I have had the card for a few months with a CL of 2500 and always paid in full. I pressed the CLI link on the site and requested 5000. The guy on the phone said that since my card is a student card, it can't get a CLI for 6 years since it's at the max CL for a student line. I never applied as a student. When I reconned for the card, I mentioned I was finishing up school and working so I'm assuming the rep put something on my app that made it a student card.

So at this point, is there any other options. I asked if I could PC the card and the rep said I could not. Anyone ever experienced this?

What phone number did you call?

FYI, in general it might just be too early for them to give you a CLI. It's usually good to wait 6+ months for most (with a few exceptions) lenders before asking.

It was one of the back door numbers ending in 8153.

While I'm not too concerned about the credit limit thing, what confused me is that he said it isn't possible to PC to a non student card and I'd have to apply again. Has anyone else heard of that? I've read other topics on here where people had no issue doing the Pc

I would suggest trying another number / calling the same number another time. That seems rather unusual to me, but I've never tried it myself.

Sounds like a student product although it's not too restrictive on CLIs (they can grow, just not that much or frequently).  Hopefully, you didn't select this one when you applied since I'm not sure they can generally change it once the application is decisioned, but I'm sure stranger things can happen with BOA.   How long have you had the card?  I would give it a few months if this is a newer account and check back with another analyst to determine PC elegibility.  If they confirm the product code as a "student" version, then it's likely to remain so.
