I burned Chase in the "Big B" back in 2002. I have tried over the years to get another account with them, but no luck. I was on Amazon and tried for the instant $30 off by signing up for the Amazon Visa. I was not instantly approved. Later that night I got an email congratulating me on my new account.
So does that mean I'm off the Chase blacklist? Does Amazon Visa approval = Good with Chase, or is this more like a store card?
Sounds like it to me! You can use it not only on Amazon (3% back) but also gas, restaurants, & drugstores (2%), everything else 1%! Although to be approved for other Chase cards I think they are a little strictor with credit scores and have some apping guidelines.
I apped for the Amazon Visa. Approved for 4k. Have already received it and used it several times.
I have to concur with Puggle. The Amazon store card is not a visa.
I guess my original post was a bit confusing. Basically I apped for the Amazon Visa, and was eventually approved. I have the green Visa card in my possession and have used it at multiple restaurants, gas stations, etc.
My question was whether the Amazon Visa that was issued to me by Chase is equal to say a Freedom in terms of my association with Chase. I was definitely blacklisted at one point. About two years ago I apped for a Chase card and was denied. I tried to recon and the guy basically said "You filed against us, why should we give you a card?" At this point my BK was off my report for a few years, so he must have been looking at internal records. I didn't know how to answer that, so denial stuck. Fast forward to August 2015, and I now have a card issued by Chase.
I would suggest goint to the Chase prequal area and see if anything pops up. It is a soft pull and they are pretty solid on prequal approvals. Best of luck.

While it is co-branded, I would think the fact that Chase gave you the card must be a good sign, and that you are no longer blacklisted. So as far as I can see, you are "back in with chase" Now every card is going to have its own requirements, and so it's possible that for example Freedom treats BK more negatively, so just like anyone who hasn't been blacklisted, you may or may not be successful in getting any particular card

Wasn't confusing. The Amazon Visa is a Chase cobranded card, so yes, it seems that you are off the Chase blacklist by getting approved for it. Congratulations!
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!
Yes, you are in. I agree with using the prequal site to see if they would give you a regular card.
May I ask how much you burned Chase for in your BK? I burned them for like 50K, so i will probably have to wait forever, but I always like to ask.
