Balance Transfer Apocalypse

It looks like many credit card issuers have removed the option for Balance Transfers.

For people who are looking for Balance Transfers directly into yor checking accounts... which cards do you recommend?

I'm currently looking at:

- BB&T

- BMO Harris

- US Bank

- HSBC

But do they allow you to BT into your checking account for cash?

I can't go with the major banks because I've got a lot of those cards from each issuer.

My TU has (1) inquiry and EQ has (4) inquiries... hence why I am looking at the cards above.

My EX has (9) inquiries.

Re: Balance Transfer Apocalypse

There is an existing thread for existing cardholders; for every person who says that Lender X has removed all of their BT options, there are 2 who have offers from the same lender.  It's profile-dependent.

As for new cards, to the best of my knowledge, the only lenders that offer direct-to-checking balance transfers are Bank of America, Citi, and Discover.  Of course convenience checks can always be deposited.

Odd Discover Balance Transfer Check Requirement

I just got off the phone with a csr.

She said she couldn't send BT checks if the current day is less than 15 days before the promo expiration date on the 26th of May.

(I reminded her that we are 16 days away. She was speechless.)

Has anyone else come across this weird requirement before? I've been able to request checks from them in the past with no problem. Heck, I even botch a BT online and still had it sent into my checking account.

This weird dismissal is new to me. I'm wonder if I'm flagged or something.

Re: Balance Transfer Apocalypse

Thanks.

I really don't want to open a new cc account if I don't have to.

Re: Balance Transfer Apocalypse

I believe Capital One also offers checks you can deposit.

Maybe it's the amex math, but aren't we 14 days away?

Should I call and ask?

Everything is clearly removed on the website... but do you think it will be a different scenerio if i call?

@Anonymous  I've merged your two threads dealing with BT challenges into one.
