Damn, that's a long wait. I only upgraded this week (because of you and jsucool76). I'll probably get my card long after I've forgotten about it. I hope I remember to downgrade before the AF is due.
What are you thoughts on Barclay AA (Red or Silver) vs. the Citibank AA? I have both, and I'm gonna cancel one. Is there already a thread on this? I don't want ot hijack.

Red vs AA is very equal. I think the nod goes to Barclays because they offer more bonus programs like the recent 50% bonus. The Silver of course gives you the 3X miles for flights so if you're booking a lot of AA flights then this card is worth it over the Red. I'll make my decision about whether to keep the Silver or go back to the Red as my AF approaches. As for my two Citi AA cards my plans are to close those out by the end of the year and merge my CLs

Barclays Red (or silver) is a winner in my opinion.
Aviator red is cheaper than the aadvantage plat select (by like...6 dollars) and offers the same exact benefits PLUS the red offers a $100 discount if you spend 30k in a year
@Anonymous silver card is $100 more than platinum select ($106 more than aviator red) and offers a few more (somewhat gimmicky benefits) like free checked bag for 8 companions (instead of 4...who the heck is flying with 8 companions? on the same PNR), but it offers the ability to earn EQMs, 5,000EQM/$20,000 spend (up to 10,000 EQM @ $40,000) AND offers a companion certificate (similar to the one we got with the us airways card) @ $30,000 spend. So at $30k spend, you'll have earned 5,000 elite qualifying miles, and a companion certificate to add 2 companions @$99 ea. Good value there if you're a big spender.
Silver also has global entry credit and 3x miles/dollar on AA/US, 2x on hotels and rental cars, and 1x on everything else.
Card never arrived today, despite Barclay's assuring me today is the latest it would arrive. On the phone now with a nice lady from Nevada. When I told her I upgraded the first week of june she said "And you still haven't gotten your card, that's ridiculous!"
She informed me my card was just shipped out yesterday (despite the last CSR telling me it shipped out july 11th)
Update: Lady basically told me to go kick rocks (Like Barclay's CSRs always do). I asked her why I'm paying $195 a year if I can't even get a straight answer from a CSR and she said "Yeah..."
I asked "This doesn't seem a little bit ridiculous to you, to wait 53 days for a credit card/" and she goes "Yeah, it's ridiculous, but I can't do anything about it"
Really Barclay's? Step your game up.
Got my card yesterday. Took exactly 2 weeks.
Now, why did I upgrade to Silver again? Feel like I was just following the crowd. Seemed like a really good reason 2 weeks ago, but now I can't think of why. I'm probably going to downgrade to Red or PC to another card if Barclay lets me.

Already booked first class X2 to Vegas for next month. Love the extra miles. Now I need to do Global Entry. Stupidly did precheck before on Amex Platinum. Guess you can do both
