askme3012 I don't know why you think you would get a 5k limit seeing as the Discover only gave you 3k? I think you need to be about 760 in your credit scores to get the world mastercard.
Wha do you mean they refused you because you only had one card with a balance reporting... I don't understand that... Is your limit 800? becasue maybe then they were saying your overall credit limit was too low for them to consider giving you such a high limit.
@slweal87 : I am not shooting for a 5K limit here but I got approved for 2K and was hoping to get the same limit as Discover (3K) .
When I called they said, they dont know anything about Discover and only know about US Bank 800$ reporting ie my overall limit is low. Thats why they denied me the CLI.
So now, is it better to call back immediately or wait for Discover to start reporting and then call in?

@Anonymous because Discover gave @askme3012 a $3k limit doesn't mean another lender wouldn't give him/her a higher limit. Also, I am no fortune teller but I don't think Barclays needs a 760 to approve with a $5k limit.
Just got my 40,000 bonus points and I only have the plantinum version (3k limit), so for sure you do! Well I had supporting documentation that mentioned the 40,000 opening bonus and an email from Barclaycard as well. So look out for all that. Yay, now what to do with this?!
And yes, you probably don't need a score of 760 for the World Master Card... but maybe you do? probably above 720ish

My card didn't come with any documentation of the 40k bonus, but I called to make sure that I was eligible and the CSR confirmed (I was recently approved for Platinum only).
Also it's awesome how bonus miles post immediately! Their website could use some work though.

Nice. I think my TU was ~760 when I got approved for Platinum. Low income, student loans, and also ~3-4 TU inquiries probably did me in.

Called Barclays today to see if they can do anything about CL. Rep said, we do not see enough history on my account, though he stated they saw my Discover($3k) reporting. Excellent payments, good balances.. blah blah... but they cant increase the CL.. I said you want me to spend money on your card which I can't since i cant even book 2 return tickets to my home country. But they didnt budge ...
Honestly, I am pretty pissed at Barclays. Lets see what happens in future.
PS: My score was 771 when they pulled my report (TU FICO) and still $2k limit.. So i can definitely tell that limit or getting WMC is definitely ymmv thing, not even 771 could do it.. whereas I have seen some people pulling it off with 720s.
Based on reading so many posts here, rule of thumb would be:
credit score -> qualify and interest rate
income -> credit limit
The exception would be that if you have a very thick file with large lines of credit, a lower income might still get a higher limit.
