Barclay CLI, Lose Cap1?

I'm rebuilding since 2010. First I got a Cap1 rebuilder card. Has a 500$ limit and a 39$ annual fee due in Sept I think. After awhile I was offered a Barclay card, and they doubled the limit on it to 2500 after 6 ontime payments. Lastly, I got a WM card and they gave me a 300$ limit.

Ok, since then, WM increased to 400 and the other day my Barclay card increased to 5500 automatically! Is it finally time to ditch the Cap1 card? I have asked them to convert it to another kind of account and they refuse.

Yes, it is definitely time to ditch the Capital One. The annual fee is outrageous for a card with a $500 limit and no benefits to speak of. And it won't hurt your Utilization much at all, because it is so low.

Barclay's is a real credit card, and the limits will continue to go up much more quickly than Capital one.

Good luck.

+1

I've heard that people have been more successful with call the Executive Office of Cap1. Maybe call them to see if they will waive the fee and switch you to a non AF fee card.

If you have had your WM card for 3-4 statements at least I would call credit solutions and also ask that the limit be increased to $5000. 866-519-6441

it's a SP and they do it on the spot and they are known to be very giving! (they will also counter.)

Ditch it! I don't belive in companys you need to talk to the CEO to get something done, unless it's something that's relly needed. A CLI and void AF, and/or upgrade your cc to a better one after a good business relation for at least a couple years, is just enough. You pay thier wages so you should decide who get's your business and not them, if they don't care about you why should you care about them? Barclay already is treating you better in 6 months with them, why shouldn't cap1 do the same in those 3 years?

Re: Barclay CLI, Lose Cap1?

Get your replacement credit cards before you ditch the one you want to lose.

there shouldn't be a rush to close unless the AF date is fast approaching.

Re: Barclay CLI, Lose Cap1?

I just closed my secured Cap1 after they refused to waive an annual fee of $29.

And I feel good! I will get my $2000 back , and I just don't feel that I represent any

kind of risk for them to pay $29.

It's all about time. A year ago when I had only one card (Cap1 without AF) it was ok for me

to pay $29 , but not now. Cap1 served it's purpose- now it's time to move on.

You might not be a risk, but Peggy at CS in Cap1 stills needs her morning coffe, and that AF does that ...
