My calculations indicate a Sallie Mae always beats or ties a BCE. And at an average weekly Grocery spend of $75 or less, the Sallie beats even the BCP. If you are married and both have a Sallie, then two Sallies are a clear win.
These calculations only include Grocery and Gas Station purchases. The Sallie also has a large 5% cash back on Bookstores/Amazon.com which can push the calculation firmly towards the Sallie if you spend alot in that category.

Right, though to be fair we need to point out that BCP gives 3% in certain department stores which for some could be some heavy spending (although as another poster observed, usually store cards would give bigger discounts). And above a certain level, you could also consider 2 BCPs. But if you are doing ~ $12K in groceries, the BC is probably a better choice.
