Barclay - so many swipes, so little increases...

My Barclay Rewards card is my main card. It gets about $1500.00 - $4000.00 worth of use most months and it always gets paid off before the statement closes or the following month. I know it's not all about swipes and useage and I'm not close to my $10,500 limit but I would think they would at least give the card a small increase. Most of my other cards see decent CLIs with a lot less useage.   The last CLI was in April of '15.

Have you tried calling their customer service and ask if there are anything available for your card such as lower interest rate or CLI?

Re: Barclay - so many swipes, so little increases...

Oh yeah! I've called quite a few times since the last CLI.

10/26/15 No

1/21/16 - No

4/25/16 - lowered APR to 17.24%, no to CLI

9/16/16 - No

12/5/16 - Lowered APR to 16.24%, no CLI

Meanwhile, my Apple Rewards card has grown from $2500.00 to $7400.00 during that time period and it doesn't get much use.

4/23/15 - $800.00 increaes to $3200. (called for SP)

10/26/15 - $4400. (called for SP and APR reduction to 14.9%)

4/25/16 - No APR decrease but CLI to $7400.

12/5/16 - Lowered APR 1%, No CLI

There are indications that they are phasing out the card. Perhaps they've frozen increases across the board with that card.

Not so sure on this. Plenty of people got APR reductions and SP CLIs on Sallie cards well after it was no longer available for apps.

Barclays bring Barclays lol. Get a card from a real lender and your relationship will deepen over time.

Re: Barclay - so many swipes, so little increases...

I must agree with 12v. Barclay is known to be sensitive to new accounts and inquires after you open up a card with them and other stuff around here. Plus stingy with CLI.

From what i have read on here every six months you can call and see if you are eligible for a APR reduction and also if you qualify for soft pull CLI.

Now by my experience capital one always took care of me with CLIs when it was my daily driver. Every 6 months like clockwork.

Now Im using discover. I use that for literally everything. Every month after my statement cuts i PIF and hit the luv button and have gotten increases after two day review.

Good luck with the card.

Re: Barclay - so many swipes, so little increases...

I was excited to be approved for my first Barclay card a couple of years after I started rebuilding. That was the Apple Rewards card in 2012 and then this one two years later. I felt like I worked back to having "big boy" cards.  Well, these cards aren't big anymore. I won't sever my relationship with Barclay but I think it's time to find a new daily driver.  One problem is many of the good cards were part of my BK in 2009 (Discover, Chase and AMEX) so I'll have to see what else might be available to me.

what do u mean by "big boy"? I think your best option would be a good credid union, Nfco or Penfed since you burnt your bridges with 3 of the big banks already.
