Re: Barclays AA

For any interested party, I called them to ask the reasons.  I am not contesting their decision.   It's fine with me their decision.   Anyway,  they said my salary was low in comparison to my available credit.   They had 85k which is what it was 2 years ago.   They also said I've opened 15+ accounts this year.   They aid just let the new accounts age and I should be able to recover limits.   They said 6 - 12 months.   I'm still letting them go once I figure out about the bonus for Hawaiian airlines.   Oh and they mentioned about combining the limits into one card. Again I'm okay with their decision.  I'm not contesting this and am just providing this for informational purposes.  There is some truth to what they have said.

Thanks for the additonal info and sorry for the CLD's, but this is how we learn and you provide some great information/data points to others with what you do.  We all try to figure out how the black box of each lender works(and this is how we find out to some extent what their black box entails)..

I haven't read this entirely yet, but have you called Barclay's And demanded that they reinstate the credit lines or you will close the accounts (not saying you will but just to say on the phone)

demanded?  But if 12njoy is ok with not poking the bear, that just doesn't seem like a step in the right direction.  I would suppose it would depend whether 12njoy felt it was worth the efforts and dealing with their portfolio risk review team (which is higher in ranking than the UW team).  But, IMO, not worth it.  All they'll do again is SP, look at more recent inquiries (or newish accounts) and the decision will still stand.  While I can't speak for 12njoy, but once you get into the level of tradelines that he has, it's really no big deal in the end.

Yes, then even if they do overturn it this may just happen again down the road do to op's profile, unless they change what their system will flag for AA. 12njoy should not have to change credit goals and patterns for one lender nor should a lender change their risk assessment criteria for one client.

Here's another interesting tidbit that most folks don't know.  When accounts are CLD by AA, especially with Barclays, they are coded for more frequent periodic reviews.  So, essentially if there's a dialogue between Barclays PRR and the cardholder, they place you in sort of "probation" period for 6-12 months (all depends on the AA) for the CLD accounts (doesn't prevent getting a new card if profile improves over that period), but if during another AR they see a similar pattern, they can CLD and balance chase the AA accounts again including the new account.  Hence, the jealous lover reference.  They would need a long time to trust you again.  Don't think 12njoy wants to stick around for all that when he's got other choices.

Yes I'm jumping ship.   I think I'll see if a family member wants to use the points on the Hawaiian airlines before it goes bye bye.  I can't use it because I have a party of 5.

Can of course transfer them to me Smiley Happy

UGH!!! Dang 12! Im so sorry to hear this, that stinks!! I don't have anything add because you know whats up anyways. You've been in the game for awhile. So sorry again!! Smiley Sad

The only thing I will add is this...I say this all the time, and a few peeps on here dont believe me, but Barclays hates BT (even though they claim to love them!)!! They may not at first, but dont in the end. Smiley Sad

Thank you for sharing even though it wasnt fun.

Well, you certainly have alot more experience in credit than I do, but I have to that Barclays & BTs have worked out great for me. I got the Rewards MC in April 2012 with around $2k CL, got it up to $3500 CL with usage & auto CLIs and then did a large BT, they auto CLI'd to $5700 as I paid it down. Then I got the NFL card in March w/$5k SL, moved $2700 CL from Rewards and did a $5k BT. I have it paid down to $2k and did a $1k payment in Nov, and they gave me an auto CLI of $1k - and it's been sock drawered pretty much since I got it, I use other cards with better rewards. From $2k SL to $11.7K combined CLs in a little over 3 years, and the most usage has been BTs. But I guess it's a YMMV thing . . .

That is odd. It almost sounds like the miles have been earned and just waiting for the HA website to catch up.

I think that is exactly what is going on as I haven't had my first statement post yet.. I would assume they will give them the feed when that happens?  Not to familiar with Barclay's partner rewards cards as this is really the only one I have than SM, but Barclay's takes care of that on their side.
