Barclays Arrival AF downgrades to no AF

I just called Barclays today and the rep had to transfer me to a specialist for my question. The specialist suggested, "Why not keep the AF version for now and get the bonus first, then downgrade it to the no AF version before the AF hits." Wow, what more can I ask for? I am pretty happy with Barclays!! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Barclays Arrival AF downgrades to no AF

I've read a bunch of other threads on here and they all said you can't downgrade to the none AF card but if we can then that's great!   I would like to downgrade mine before it reaches the one year mark.

Here's one of the threads I found:

I hope they will stick to what they say after one year. Let's wait and see. Smiley Indifferent

Re: Barclays Arrival AF downgrades to no AF

Well the Arrival has been available for almost 1 year now, so we should find out soon if/how the downgrade works.

I remember Dave's thread asking about this question and my posting that I think it will be possible sometime in December, which is the earliest anyone would be paying the AF. Afaik every retention dept has a fee-free option to downgrade to in order to save a cardholder but save strategies typically aren't implemented until accounts meet the conditions such as the AF being imposed.
