No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I had a balance on my Jetblue Plus due to my purchase of a new home in December. I have been using the card alot and I have not been paying the balance in full every month. I have a balance of $4200 with $9600 limit. I logged inro my account today and my balance limit was lowered to my exact balance. I understand lowering limits but **bleep**, by 5K. Should I call them up or dont even bother? Now this has to be a priority cause it at 100 percent of my limit.
Barclays is known to balance chase so I would pay this off ASAP.
Unfortunately the thing they seem to be known for the most besides nerfing cards is being excessively paranoid and slashing limits. With what's going on in the world right now, there will probably be even more reports of this coming down the pipe. Sorry that you had to be a victim as well.
Sorry that happened.
...by all means, call and ask for help.... they'll say no and explain to you that you now appear risky to them and they'll re evaluate in three to six months.
Sorry that this happened to you, it happened to me as well. Eventually, they DID restore most of my original credit line, but I've never used the card since. I've got other options with better lenders.
Hopefully, you do too. If you don't, it's time to find them. Good luck!
I never had a Barclays card, but have read a lot of similar stories over the years here:
"I have a credit limit on my Barclays card, and used it to carry a balance and then Barclays slashed the limit to just over my balance".
While I had large balances years ago, I was balance chased by most of my lenders. My experience is you can either shrug and pay it off according to the terms of the card, or try to balance transfer it elsewhere. I doubt the CL will get restored with this carried balance, and general economic concerns in the world.

You're getting balance chased. If you have any good BT deals, now may be the time to use them.
I'd call them and see if they can help.
Sorry this is happening to you, at a time like this. I would call to see if they would be willing to work with you?
Hopefully they will have a beat.
Barclay 😐
There was an article (from their own blog) talking about how they like to see balances no higher than 25% (maybe 20%, I cant find it now). It was actually them answering a question on who gets a CLI and why. I wish i saved that link, but i didnt because I have no interest in dealing with highly neurotic lenders.
I guess you could call them, but I wouldn't hold my breath at getting anything from them.
Maybe move balance to one of your existing cards if they have a BT offer.
During times like these, it can cascade into a series of AA, so I really wouldn't wait too long.
I'm really sorry this happened to you, especially during hard times and mortgage on the horizon
I woke up this morning to pay more of my balance off and to my surprise my limit went back up to what it was. I said "WTH". I dont know if that was an error? It was lowered for one week. I'm not calling them back just going to leave like that. Thanks FICO team.
