After 6 yrs of gardening after facing a home foreclosure in 2006 and a resulting $23,000 federal tax lien filed against it in 2009, I decided to try and test the waters..
It all started in Nov of 2012 when I was approved for a $12,800 car loan thru Hyundai.. Then I thought I would give Walmart / GE a try back in Nov 2012 and was approved for a $600.00 CL....
I then just went on another app spree this week and was approved for..
2/09/13 CHASE - $2,500.00
2/11/13 Amazon - $1,700.00
2/12/13 Discover - $5,000.00
2/12/13 BJs Visa - $1,800.00
2/12/13 Amex - won't know the CL until the card arrives this week..
I also thought I would give a call to my existing CC account holders to see if I could get a CL increase... To my surprise...
2/12/13 Citibank - $2,200.00 up to a new limit of $9,880.00
2/12/13 And my Credit Union Card where I have a 6k CL, I requested a bump of 4k... Request Pending Some Time Today...
There's hope ya'll even after the most horrible credit disasters...

Can't you call to find out your limit for Amex? Congrats!
Amex doesn't have any automated system to tell you so I thought I would wait for the card to arrive.. I'm not expecting anything huge.. In 2005 I had the Amex platinum and when I lost my house, Amex closed it even though I had never ever been late with them and was a card member since 1997..
Nice haul!
