Benefits - Calendar Year vs. Year from card acceptance date? Amex Gold

I recently received the Amex Gold Card and was wondering if when it refers to the $100 airline credit per year, if it is referring to $100 for a calendar year after receiving the card, or does it start over January 2019? Thanks.

Re: Benefits - Calendar Year vs. Year from card acceptance date? Amex Gold

The phrase "calendar year" refers to the 12 month period January - December. The phrase "card membership year" or something along those lines refers to the 12 month period following your card opening - so if you open the card in July, the card membership year is from that point until next July when your account is 12 months old. Those are the terms used for each circumstance.

So when they say the Amex Gold airline credit is per calendar year, you'll get access to the 2018 credit as soon as you open the card (if it's opened this year), and if you don't use it before 2019 you lose it. In January 2019, you get access to the full 2019 credit.
