I would have to say my Discover IT takes first place with AMEX in a close second. Both of them have given me the highest starting limits, best customer service and overall just great experiences

Re: Best Credit Card for your Experience (no travel) annnnnnnd GO!

I'm looking for basically the same things as you are. I don't have very many cards yet of my own so I can't really say what ones are so great from personal experience. My discover and amex have been fairly good so far. Here's a list of the ones I'm interested in that you might like.

Amex Blue Cash Everyday 3% groceries, 2% gas & select dept stores, 1% all (or BCP version of this card)

Chase Amazon Rewards Visa 3% whole foods market & amazon, 2% restraunts gas and drugstores, 1% all (or Prime version of this card)

Barclays Uber Visa 4% dining
U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa 5% & 3% multiple categories
Syncrony Paypal Cashback MC 2% all

Citi Doublecash 2% all
BofA cash rewards MC 3% category
FNBO Ducks Unlimited 5% gas & sporting goods
Citi Dividend (discontinued?) 5% in 2 categories
Discover It Cashback 5% category
Chase Freedom 5% category
ABOC Platinum MC 5% category
Syncrony Lowes Store Card 5% hardware
Syncrony Care Credit 0% financing up to 60mo for medical or vetrinary

Williams Sonoma Visa 5% homegoods, 2% dining, 1% all

Re: Best Credit Card for your Experience (no travel) annnnnnnd GO!

I love my Chase card ....Hands down my favorite of the ones I have with the exception that my CU card I can withdrawal the full amount of the CL if I chose to which I can't with my other cards.....the only issue with that is that it's a lower limit and I don't want the HP to increase it just yet XD       But if my CU card ever grew past my Chase card other than rewards it would be my all time favorite no issues but I have never had any issues with either....My Amex on the other hand.......LOLOLOL.       But it's not a Horrible card just not as great as my others but again I am new to Amex too so I hear once they start increasing they are very generous so I will ride that out as well Smiley Very Happy

Chase Freedom Unlimited.

Reasons:

  1. Chase is the biggest bank in the world. I used to use the Citi Double Cash card until I went to buy $7,000 in kitchen appliances at Lowes a few months ago and Citi's entire network was down for a few hours. Their customer service number was dead as well. Chase would never let that happen.
  2. VISA... accepted virtually everywhere.
  3. Cash back rate is good enough.
  4. Benefits/protections are good.

Shout-out to Discover. Excellent card as well.

Purists might say that this was one (maybe minor) issue with acceptance!

Re: Best Credit Card for your Experience (no travel) annnnnnnd GO!

While its value is reduced if there is no travel, I would still give half a vote to the US Altitude Reserve, depending how much mobile pay is available in your area.    This gives 3% (4.5% if redeemed for travel) whenever you use mobile pay, and this can be a huge range of things not covered by other cards
