I was talking to my brother last night and we were singing the praises of our credit unions when it dawned on me, he was talking about Boeing's CU. I don't know why I didn't know or assume Boeing would have an employee credit union having grown up in Washington where is seemed like 90% of the State worked there. He's one that rarely speaks with his bank/CU or goes in to their offices even though he's been with them for 20 years, has a mortgage, all of his past car loans, credit cards, savings and checking with them.
So other than my bro's love of them, anyone else have experience with them? They look pretty good to me. Particularly their savings, checking and visa rates.
My search of the forums only shows a few posts in the past two years for these guys.
At first I thought this CU might have a pretty narrow field of membership, but it is open to anyone living in the state of Washington, and family members of anyone who worships in the state of Washington. That could potentially cast a pretty wide net!
Born and raised in Seattle. Still think of it as "home" after all these years. Ran away in terror at 18 when I figured out that everyone works for Boeing. I didn't want anything to do with working there back then. Left the state entirely and found an entirely different industry to work in and a state to dry out.
It's changed a little up there. Now if you don't work for Boeing, you work for Microsoft.
Be easy for me to get in. And I found a list of the top 50 credit unions. They're right up at the top with the others that are praised on here.
I have been a member for over 4 years after Wells Fargo(15 years) jacked around my account. And I have never been happier. Sure, you have to plan ahead to get cash or make a deposit at a grocery store outlet type of place, but it is well worth it.
I have a 686 EQ and a 732 TU and I was turned down for a car loan one year ago today. So I am hesitant to waste an inquiry for a CC. They do have secured cards, but I have plenty of cards and dont need another just yet.
