BofA CR: Pull payment from non-cardholder checking?

If I use my BofA WWF Cash Rewards card to make an "online shopping" purchase for DM, will BofA let me pull a payment from her Chase personal checking account? She is not an AU on the card, nor a BofA customer in any capacity.

We have different addresses. She uses a "Maiden-Married" style last name.

We've done it before with Amex so that is the alternative.

I think you have to attest you Smiley Surprisedwn: the account in some fashion. In these cases I strongly suggest a push from the account to yours to avoid any possible improprieties.

Re: BofA CR: Pull payment from non-cardholder checking?

It is really easy to transfer money between Bank of America and Chase, I would probably just help her set up Zelle and send you the money that way to make the payment.

To put it mildly, she is not an early adopter of new technology. I've been telling her about the ease and reliability of mobile check deposit for years and she still drives to the bank.

Just used Zelle this afternoonSmiley Happy

ETA: They have really raised the Zelle limits, making it much more usable for "Instant" transfers.

I noticed it was $5K available for Zelle transfer .. I think the limit used to be $300Smiley Tongue

Agreed. Don't risk it. Without thinking once, I tried to push a transfer to another checking account without my name on it and got my checking account shut down. At worst,  I expected a decline and an explanation of why it was declined.

Re: BofA CR: Pull payment from non-cardholder checking?

Technically, you aren't supposed to do this, but I have done it dozens of times, maybe hundreds, without issue.

It's like someone handing you their credit card and telling you to buy something. As long as you have the owner's permission, they aren't going to challenge it and the banks don't care.

I apid my Dad's Visa, he paid my card, etc, never an issue in 20 years
