Just got off the phone with a credit analyst from Bofa secured card number 888-260-4696
I had this card since 1st march 2010 with a secured limit of $500 and when I had called in the last time, I was told that I can call anytime around my card anniversary (maximum 5 days earlier) to have them consider to get it unsecured, so I called in today which is about 4 days before anniversary.
The guy asked income, employment info etc and said he needed a HP and I agreed to a HP. He said he will take abt 3-4 minutes and put me on hold, came back in abt 2 mins and said, ALL SET, I am unsecuring your card and bumping the CL to 7500. I immediately asked if I can pc to 'Cash Rewards Visa Signature' and he said he needs to update this on the computer, another 2 mins of hold and done.
woohoo... 500 to 7500 (infact in a way 0 CL to 7500)
Woo, hoo!!! Congrats! From $500 secured to $7500 unsecured... way to go!!!!!
Can I ask what your scores is and what cra did they pull...thanks
Congrats. When they unsecured my card they cl of $1k.
@SocalMark: I am not sure about my exact scores, but when I got my EQ Fico the last month (free with my DCU acount), it was abt 700 and EQ is my worst report. I don't know what they pulled yet, I will update once the inquiry posts on my freecreditreport account (should be in a day or 2).
My usage was about 2-3% 400$ balance on CR with about 20k CL available (excluding my amex).
@concorduser: I myself din't expect 7500, but they probably tried to match the highest CL on my CR which US Bank 8000. I have a 1 year crisp payment record with BofA, paid everything as soon as the transactions posted, allowing to post about 5$ in every statement then PIF as soon as the statement cuts.
Wow, I have never heard of such a thing, I thought it was just standard you got a $500 increase! congrats to you... did you even need this secured card last year? or is the 20k worth of credit all new over the year?

It is already showing up online on my account. BofA was my second card ( mar 2010), before that I only had DCU (jan 2010) CL 1k secured. Then I also opened a cap 1 (500CL) and JCP (300CL) in mar 2010. Another cap1 (500CL) followed in Jun2010.
By Dec 2010 My Cap1 cards had grown to 2250 and 750, while JCP was at 1800. Offcourse both secured stayed at the original limits.
I kept getting tons of pre approved from sub primes which landed directly from mailbox to shredder.
Dec 2010, I called DCU to unsecure and they made it 3k unsecured.
January 2011, I got a pre approved offer from US Bank. Applied online, instant 8k. Same day, I applied chase freedom (5k approved after a week) and amex zync, instant approval.
Now BofA was my last secured card, which converted yesterday, and a huge huge CL (I expected about 1-2k).
That's my story.
OOPS, in my story, I forgot to mention that I closed the second Cap 1 account this january. I did this so that if at a later stage I want to get a cap 1 card with joining bonus (miles or cash), I can snatch them.
Congratulations!! You've come a loooonnnggg way in a year. BofA has been very good to me too. The CSRs are always polite and courteous.
Thanks Jeff
