Discover!!!
Called the backdoor number. They pulled soft inq first but system said "nope" so I let the rep do a hard inq and listened to the issues:
Too many inq
Too many store accounts carrying a balance.
Then i politely asked her to look at her payment history on discover. She did.
I asked her to tell me the balances she saw on other major cards, she did and I corrected ones that had not yet reported (two)
She said "ah-ha" i see what you did there....and put me on hold.
She came back in about three minutes and gave me the CLI amount I had asked for. 1000 to 2000.
Gogo Discover and master negotiator moi!!
We have joint account Discover for $500 . It's been opened for a year now. Everytime I ask for CLI, they always say system denied soft pull and requires a HP to both of my DW and I. I finally gave up on asking CLI from them.
2 HPs ( Yes ! one for me and one for DW as they said) for couple thousands CLI is expensive for us.
but congrat of your CLI !!!

hmm...it was not a HP for me as her AU. Its not a joint account though. I am merely an AU so I guess thats the difference.

OP, please don't take this the wrong way...
How in the world were you allowed to initiate a CLI for an account where you are AU and give authorization for a credit pull for someone other than yourself?
That seems like very lax security on Discover's part. Scary...
I handle all the bills in our house. My wife has previously told Discover that they are free to discuss the accounts in full with me. Still though they always ask for her to get on the phone and verify that. So she does and then she hands the phone back to me and me and the Rep go about our business.
Its the same with Amex too.
Additionally the phone number I call from is the one on the account. They ask her all the standard security questions and then specifically whether or not she is authorizing them to discuss the account with me. Its a bit of a PITA but our system works well for us.

Oh, ok. I got it. Thx!
I was worried for a hot second.
Understandable. Believe me though, it doesn't matter how many times she tells them, they ALWAYS insist on getting verbal verification from her right then and there. So I can only really call when she is around to verify their stuff.
