Branded Amex Cards and Backdating

Anyone ever got their branded, i.e. USAA, PenFed, FNBO Amex backdated? My Amex Bluesky is back dated to 2000. I'm wondering if I get any other Amex's not directly from Amex, if that member date will apply.

AFAIK, it would not be. You are not a member of Amex with these cards; they only process the payments.

I guess my FNBO preapproval is not going to get used then. Smiley Sad

Re: Branded Amex Cards and Backdating

Sounds like you're confused between an Amex-processed card and an Amex-issued card. Backdating is a feature of Amex-issued cards. I wrote a blog post on the distinction if you're interested: http://hiepsfinance.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/visa-mastercard-discover-american-express-what-are-they...

All perfect answers posters!   Smiley Happy

I post that because not all that long ago, that question left a lot of people wondering, or even more so, unaware there was a difference and usually didn't even know to ask such a thing.

Those answers from all of you, are why I recommend this site to so many people, to at least look at before applying for anything, even if they don't join, just read.

I tell them there are a lot of very knowledgeable people there and they'll likely get more than 1 version of the same answer (which tends to verify them all).  And people here, although we don't always agree, are 99% respectful of each other, which is nearly unheard of on online forums of any kind.
