I just thought I'd share my most recent experience with CAP1. I recently moved into a new place and changed all my mailing info over to my new address. Of course, when you move, you always get other people's mail for a while. Well...going on almost 12 months I kept receiving statements at my new place for the previous resident. I assumed they were still actively using the card b/c I kept getting statements every month. I marked RETURN TO SENDER on each statement and sent them back but I kept on getting more and more statements for this person. I got so fed up with it that I called CAP1 directly to sort out the issue. I told them I was getting these statements at my home and that this person no longer lived here--that I keep getting them even tho I am returning them. The agent actually suggested I open the statement and read to her the account number (say what?). Apparently she couldn't simply fix the issue with just the name on the envelope...I was asked to commit mail fraud for the agent to do her job. Then she asked for my name and my SSN (say whuut?) Yes. I got so mad that I told the lady off and she very smartly tells me she needs this information so she can process the change of address request for this person. Oh heck no, you're not about to stick this bill on me! I've got my own bills to worry about. Long story short, I haven't received a statement for this month...so maybe they got the message...hopefully.
Yeah, it's tough, because as long as that person doesn't change their address, Cap1 is required to send it there.

I'm sure they have people try to game them all the time guys. I'd bet that if I didn't change my address to my AMEX account they'd keep on sending me statements to my old address, and would probably refuse to change it for someone who isn't me.
Full Disclosure: I don't have an AMEX account, I just like to sound cool.

Not much you can do about a situtation like that other than to just throw the mail away. Capital One cannot authorize you to change someone elses account information. It is the account holders responsibility to update their information. Just imagine someone calling in to change your address on one of your accounts without your permission.......That would be a scary proposition.
People still get paper statements in the mail? The only statement/bill I've received in the mail in the last five or so years is from Fairpoint. I've asked that they not send because all I do is feed it directly into the shredder unopened but they tell me that due to Federal regulations they must send it.

I'm pretty sure that's because Fairpoint doesn't own computers yet.
