Of interest to me was:
- Yes, they still accept applications by phone as well as in branch as the website outlines
- There is a $30,000 minimum gross annual income requirement.
That minimum is the same for individual and joint applications.
Individuals can not declare household income.- Individual applications can not later be converted to joint - only AU's can be added.
I questioned her and she placed me on hold, came back and confirmed AU's are allowed and they will report to the AU's CR. (It was said here that AU's were not allowed, not sure which is right).Like I said, may not be big news but I thought it was worth sharing.
The part in bold is interesting. I applied in branch and said I wanted to apply by myself then add my wife on later to the card out of fear that my wife might not be approved. So I applied that way. After I got the card, I asked to have my wife added as a joint account holder instead of an authorized user. I was sent a form (the same form available on their website if you are logged in BTW) to add her as a joint holder.
I decided to call underwriting (backdoor number in the stickied thread) to ask what the process was like. I wanted to make sure that they wouldn't downgrade us to the Cash Rewards or whatever they call their lesser card. I was told that the terms of the card would not change, and they would either approve or deny adding her. The rep on the phone did share a little insight into their approval process for adding someone. He said that it is very rare to deny adding someone to the account, and only major stuff on her credit report would deny her like a lot of debt.
We haven't received her card yet so I'll have to update when/if we find anything out.
We received my wife's Cash+ card in the mail today. She was successfully added to my individual account as a joint owner. So the rep was mistaken on that point.

"Cash+" = US Bank Cash Plus. A card about to be made much less attractive.
