CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

I am just curious if I have a shot at being approved for the Amex Blue Sky card. I have 11 months of credit history, two cards with Citi (limits totaling $6000), and utilization has usually been less than 10%. My FICO scores should be upper 600s, lower 700s...so let's say 700s across the board.

Starting Score: EQ 773, TU 766
Current Score (2/25/2017): EX 813, EQ 823, TU 818
Goal Score: 800

Nope, no negatives on any of my credit reports. Strange, I was under the influence that Amex was a real hardball when it came to converting cards from one type to another, which is why I would prefer to apply for it directly.

I say you have a good shot? In fact before you apply, see if there is another card you want and convert to it if you're approved.

Re: CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

I am just worried that my limited credit history and lack of an "excellent" credit score may hurt my chances. I was foolish enough to try for their Amex Blue for Students a year ago and was denied due to insufficient established credit.

Your FICO scores alone should get you approved for a Delta Skymiles. You already have two CITI cards (prime) with low util. Amex likes to see low util. IMHO, Amex has changed some. Before approvals were difficult for most people, not so these days. Many at this forum have posted approvals for Delta Skymiles with scores in the low 600's and derogs on their reports.

What does "should be" mean?  Mine should all be in the 800s, but dey aint  Smiley Very Happy

But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

Ah, sorry for the confusion. What it means is that I checked my scores 2-3 months ago, and they were all in the 680-720 range. I've kept low utilization and kept making payments on time (paying in full) ever since, so my score should have gone nowhere but Up. I would be very shocked and surprised if it went down. In other words, I was guesstimating my score based on the last time I checked, and my activity since then.

Re: CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

I got approved for Blue for Students with only 6 months of credit history. Although, I already had 5 other cards at the time. They gave me the 7-10 days message, then I checked the status the next day and it was approved. I think that's a lot of faith from AmEx to give a full time student with 5 cc's and only a 6 month credit history a Blue for Students with a 2K CL. My FAKO scores at the time were TU 776, EQ 659, and EX 0 (EX doesn't report anything for me still today. I will dispute later, when my account balances are lower, I wouldn't want all my accounts to permanently report high balances!!!). I say if you're a full time student go for it!

Re: CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

I was just about to apply for the card, but after having spoken with an Account Manager at Citi (I called to request a lower APR) I had some startling news. I was told that I couldn't get a lower rate than the one they had already offered because my credit score had been dropping in the past few months; 20 points in the last month alone. Due to this, I am now a bit hesitant on applying until I find out exactly how low my score has gone.
