I was just about to apply for the card, but after having spoken with an Account Manager at Citi (I called to request a lower APR) I had some startling news. I was told that I couldn't get a lower rate than the one they had already offered because my credit score had been dropping in the past few months; 20 points in the last month alone. Due to this, I am now a bit hesitant on applying until I find out exactly how low my score has gone.

Why don't you just pay MyFico.com and inquire your scores?

Re: CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

Reading all about Amex's f/r stunts scares me, especially those stories about new cardmembers being f/r by Amex after just having been accepted two weeks prior. I know that certain activities can trigger a f/r, but it seems very strange they would do it to especially new cardmembers, which is what I am afraid will happen to me...

Despite all that, I have decided that Amex Blue Sky is the best travel rewards card out there for me right now and my current spending habits/locations. I will take the plunge and apply early next week. (After pulling all three of my reports yesterday, I discovered that my EX report has 3 inquiries, two of which will fall off soon:

7/28/2006 Citi
7/29/2006 Amex

So I will wait until those two fall off before applying - 1 inquiry as opposed to 3 seems to be much better in my book, and I really don't want to risk getting denied for something that could have been prevented just by waiting several days..."Denied due to too many recent inquiries..." That would certainly be a disaster.

Starting Score: EQ 773, TU 766
Current Score (2/25/2017): EX 813, EQ 823, TU 818
Goal Score: 800

Re: CC App: Do I Have A Chance?

On the same topic, I was wondering if anyone could give me some last minute advice...

The application asks for Annual Household Income as well as source of income. Well, I am currently a student and have no job myself. (I don't want to apply for the Blue for Students card because I already have a rewards card better than that, it's the Blue Sky I have my eyes on.) I was inclined to put down the amount my parents make, but then thought twice because first off, it's not really accurate, and secondly if they F/R me sometime in the future, that could get complicated...

So there is my dilemma...should I even bother applying for the card if I can't list an accurate source of income? I don't want to lie on the application...

And if I should still apply, what do I put for my income and source?

Thanks a lot for the help; very much appreciated!
