Re: CCCs that will extend 0% upon request?

I bought a new overpriced mattress and paid it off over 3 months or so on chase marriott business. While it was charged up, I had a particularly big amazon month. I paid the final payment on the same month as I paid off my chase amazon card.

A few weeks later I got balance transfer checks for both accounts. A month or so later they mailed me checks both accounts again. Both offering 0% for 12 months.

It can't hurt to call whatever your banks are and simply say, you have a large purchase if $x coming up, and you want to know if they'll offer you a promotion. They'll either say yes or no.

I'm going to guess that should be done before making the purchase? I just ran about $5K through Discover. I wouldn't mind carrying that for 12 months at 0% over paying it off next month.

This won't help with the roof situation but I've found my Barclay Apple Rewards card to be good for 0% offers. I usually call them before I'm going to make a large purchase and ask if they have a 0% offer they can extend to my account. I believe I've received that each time I've asked. Actually, one time I didn't. I had to call back for something the next days so I asked that rep. She said yes.

I used my Home Depot card to pay for my new roof two years ago. Twenty-four months no interest. I originally got the card for that very reason.   If you apply and don't get the cl you want, tell them why you want the limit. Good luck. I have been very happy with the benefits of that card.

Masscredit: Yea, best to call before... But same argument... Doesn't hurt to call.

I call each of my cards once every other month and ask about lower interest rates, promotional or otherwise

That's another option that I hadn't considered, as I do have a Lowe's card.  I believe they do something similar with 0% offers on qualifying purchases (I'm sure a new roof would suffice) but I've only used it for the 5% back.  When you got your new roof from HD, did you use their sourced roofers?  How did the experience work out for you?

Lowes and HD offer great financing long term did a fence at 0% for 15 months for 3300 and worked out good.  So assume roofs could go higher and probably do on terms.  With your TU score without proof of income should be able to get lowes card to 35k.

Re: CCCs that will extend 0% upon request?

If I'm not mistaken the 0% only applies to purchases made at Lowes? Hence "qualified" purchases. So I don't think you'd be able to pay the "roofer" with it, only buy the supplies at Lowes?

Like others have said Discover seems the best choice, though I have also received offers from Citi for .99% APR on charges for 12 months before.

Sounds like you may aev to make a coupe phone calls to find the right deal.

Good Luck OP!

I would expect you would need to actually contract with Lowes or HD for the roofing job to get any special financing on their cards. I'd guess that all larger roofing companies have contracts directly with distributors or even manufacturers, and would not buy supplies from Lowes or HD.

Re: CCCs that will extend 0% upon request?

Lowes for example when had fence done uses many different companies depending on quality of fence and material on whom they use and each location can be different.  This is possibly something that would have to be discussed if you wanted said roofing contractor to do work if he works with lowes otherwise see whom lowes uses at your location and find out their rating by various sources on the internet.  My fence was done by a company with an average rating of 4.9 so i was quite happy with whom they used and looked them up prior to plopping that amount of cash on the lowes card for 0%
