I authorized my hotel room on my debit card. When I checked my online backing, they authorized it for $750 more than the room amount for some kind of smoking insurance, in case I smoked in the room. The thing I signed was for $90, but they said there was nothing they could do about it, and that only the room amount would clear, which was true.
