Just logged in to check on DH's Lowe's card (I have his permission to manage the account for him, since I take care of paying all the household bills). He's rebuilding along with me, applied and was approved for a Lowe's card back in April, with a starting limit of $300. It just doubled to $600!!! I read that GEMB is really good about giving CLIs every few months, so I'm thrilled to see that this is proving true for us, as well. Between this and my JCP card, that's two CLIs in our family this week.
That is excellent!
Congrats!
Ray
Congrats on the CLI. You should be able to get regular increases every 4-6 months. I maxed out at 10K last year.
I just got a great CLI in the past week or so too... went from 5k to 8.5k! The card started in 2008 at $800.00.

That's exactly what I was hoping. We'd like to do a few home improvements next year, such as recarpeting. No particular time of the year, just when we feel ready. I thought that if we opened an account this spring, then we'd have time to grow the credit line. That way, we can save up the cash to PIF and take advantage of the 5% cash back at the register, or at the very least have 0% financing as an option if we would need to go that route. Either way, we're planning ahead so that we have good options.
So, I'm thrilled to see the first increase. To use the gardening metaphor, it's as if we planted a seed last April, and I'm feeling the excitment of seeing the first shoot of green poke through the soil. Now we'll continue to tend to it and watch it grow. This is the fun part of credit gardening!
My wife's 3 year old Lowes card went from 2K to 4K to 5K to 10K in less than 2 years. She also maxed out at 10K last year.

Is 10k the max?

Yes. According to the rejection letter, $10K is the maximum their policy allows.

That's good to know. Guess I can leave Lowes alone now...

I got a letter that didn't say anything about 10K being the maximum, but something to the tune of "We will review your account periodically for an increase in your credit line", or something like that.
