CLI on AMEX with 2 accounts

I opened a Blue Cash account with AMEX back in September 2007 and was initially granted a $1000 CL. 2 months later, I requested a CLI to $5000 and was approved. 2 months after that, I asked for a CLI to $10,000, which was also approved. In March 2008, I opened a Clear account with AMEX, and was approved for $2000. I am planning on requesting another CLI soon, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on which one I should request it for? Does it even make a difference, since they allow you to reallocate your limit amongst the cards?

Re: CLI on AMEX with 2 accounts

When I activated the Clear card, I asked for a CLI and they told me that you can only request them every 6 months now--for the whole account, not individually per card. Is that negated if you ask for both of them at once? Also, how is AMEX with granting lower increases if you aren't approved for the amount that you requested?

Re: CLI on AMEX with 2 accounts

Every 6 months sounds right per account.
I don't have experiance on them if they don't give you what you ask for because I have always gotten what I asked for.

I was under the impression that your first CLI was 60 days now (used to be 30).

Several months back Amex changed their CLI policy to once every 6 months.

Re: CLI on AMEX with 2 accounts

I got a denial letter for a CLI at activation that said 60 days before they will consider a CLI.

Has anyone tried this lately?  I wont even attempt it at 60 days if thats the case.  If nobody knows I guess I'll be the guinea pig.

When I was approved last week and called New Accts. with some questions, the CSR there told me I could call and ask for a CLI at 60 days and then about every 6 mos. thereafter.  FWIW.
