Hard Pull/Inquiries fall off automatically when they reach 2 years. They stop impacting your FICO score after 1 year. It is possible to remove them via alternative methods but that is not to be discussed here. It is not only unethical but can easily be viewed as fraudulent. In other words, if you authorized the pulls...you must wait 2 years.

+1

Concur with 09Lexie and SSA_2013.  Factually and accurately reported information cannot be removed.

OP - how many inquiries do you have per CRA?

Ah okay, Thanks!

I am a college student and I have some money tied up in the Cap One secured card that I would like to help with expenses ($1500).

So I guess my best bet is to wait and then I will start looking around again.

Thanks.

Re: Can you get Inq's removed from your credit report?

Most of the damage done by inquiries are over by the 1 year mark.

Inquiries can only be removed legitimately via disputes if they are fraudulent.

Trying to remove them via bumpage can often result in many undesired consequences which ends up doing more harm than good. It has also stopped working for the most parts because computer processing abilities and storage space are a lot better as compared to couple years ago.

people who claim they can remove inquiries for a fee are mostly scammers as well. You probably have better luck winning in the casino than to have them successfully remove an inquiry for you.

Just wondering....will credit scores go up once the 1 yr. mark is up?  I have about 8 that will hit the 1 year mark in September.  How much do you think that will impact my score?

Re: Can you get Inq's removed from your credit report?

I've had two inquiries removed from my report.

1 because no one ever discussed a single thing about pulling my report or reading me any type of disclousure stament that my report was being pulled.

Another because I never had an account with this institution in my life and have no idea where the inquiry came from. When I inquired if someone was trying to apply for credit in my name they showed they had no history of me or anyone ever applying for any type of credit with them.  So there you have it!

Re: Can you get Inq's removed from your credit report?

If you want the "by the book" answer (spent the 6+ rebuilding, so I became we'll versed in the FCRA and FDCPA) it's call Permissible Purpose. Basically, if any entity has PP to pull your report, then they can legally do so. This even includes a collections agency trying to figure out how to get you to pay, determine it its worth getting a judgement, etc. of course, any credit decisions is a cut and dry PP.

The only LEGITIMATE way to have a HP removed is done so directly from the entity to the CRA when it was done in error. An example comes to mind from a recent thread where a NFCU member specifically requested no HP (for a CLI or APR reduction if I remember right) and they did so anyway (prob auto pull by system I'd guess). The member had a supervisor pull the phone recording to confirm and NFCU removed the HP.

Apologies for the simplicity of the legal answer...just got up and coffee still brewing...
