Update: Here is thte message I received:

This account has not had at least 3 monthly payments made over the last year

So like someone said earlier - Capital One likes to see usage. I can understand that but with a limit of $750, it is a pain to have to keep paying for stuff I've used throughout the month when I can use one of my other cards that has a decent credit limit.  Cap One will not be in my sock drawer -  it is getting AXED Smiley Mad...

To note though, they were the ones who gave me an unsecured card (the same card I have) when I was rebuilding, so too bad. They helped me, but I am not willing to keep it out of sentiment. Almost 7 years without a CLI, no thank you - NOT going to keep paying your AF.

I disagree. I think you're being too hasty in your decision. That message is system genereated and like many others have said the front line customer service representatives are useless. Take the time and call the EO and I believe that based on your history they will be able to assit you. I wouldn't want to lose 7 years of history and neither should you.

True but due to backdating with my AmEx that is 15 years or so. I won't lose the 7 years immediately anyway, it won't happen until the card falls off my tradeline in another 7 - 10 years.

That is true. Will you consider calling the EO? I think the forum is interested in how they will respond to your situation.

It's kind've troubling that people are so quick to bite the hand that feeds them so to speak when Cap1 is often times the only lender who will give them their first cards or give them secured/unsecured cards when no one else will. If you reward them with usage then they will reward you with CL...

GL OP (This post wasn't about you, just in general.)

They are GREAT rebuilder cards hands down. However, they are not so great when it comes to rewarding customers with adequate clis. SOME do in fact get lucky through the Executive Office. MOST are not! Why should loyal customers that have been cardholders for YEARS have to beg their EO for mediocre increases? They are merely a stepping stone to better cards IMO.

Not always.  Rebuilders for a variety of people, yes.  Yet they still provide a good set of cards for folks with excellent credit.  I've had them for years (back when they absorbed Signet Bank), both Capital One legacy tradelines combined ~$31K.

Congrats on the Cap 1 luv! So far I just don't have that much faith in them. I had great credit before and never saw decent clis from them despite being a loyal customer for 5 yrs and heavy usage. Oh well. Guess it's a YEMV kinda thing. They love some, others not so much.

I guess I have never encountered any issues since I've had them, even with the latest integration of my other two former HSBC Premium CCs.  But, I can definitely see how others may experience some challenges with growing their cards/relationship if they started out with any of their not-so-prime products.

Oh that's great.  It links to other forum posts by people who can answer a simple question without sarcasm.  Very, very helpful.
