Cap1- How to get a CLI?

This has probably been flogged to death, but-

2002- Got my 1st Cap1 accnt, $500 CL.

2005- Issued new card (closed 2001 card) with $2k CL

2007- Still have the same $2k CL

Perfect Hx.

Current balance -0-

Requests are rebuffed. I think a CLI is justified, but how do I get it?

Just one question for now. Were these requests made by using their automated system, or did you speak directly to a customer service representative?

The only way I was able to get a cli(after 3 years of not having one) was to call their back door # and talk to an account specialist.

Not sure what everyone else has done.

Spoke to CSR, was told they do not accept requests for CLI, CLI only by in-house periodic review process.

Had maxed account out & PIF a while back just to get the limit reporting on CR. The past few yrs had been carrying small balances, $100 or so, but have been carrying -0- balance for several months hoping that would get their attention.

I would call and threaten to cancel without a CLI it has worked for me in the past.

Sometimes I've had luck by telling the credit card companies what their competitors are offering me. For example, if you have a higher credit line on another card, tell the folks at Capital One about it. Tell them you'd like to use their card more often, but it's just not competitive with your other cards. Ask them if they could make this card more attractive for you to use on a regular basis.

Don't threaten to close an acoount unless you can do it (and w/o affecting util).

I used the online request and was told that my account wasn't eligable - 2 days later they raised the CL (with no pull that I have been able to detect).
