Cit Double Cash gets a lot of mentions, but be aware of its limitations.  It doesn't have a SUB or 0% promotional financing (although does have a 18 month 0% BT offer).  Rewards done in a weird 1% at purchase/additional 1% on payment.  Rewards can only be redeemed in increments of $25.

Point taken.  You can not redeem any amount less than $25. You must spend and pay at least $1,250 before you could redeem your cash rewards.

The everyday preferred has a fee

In that case you have to subtract the fee from both sides of the comparison.

Re: Capital One 2% versus Amex 1.5

Neither card is really 2% or 1.5%. They are 2x or 1.5x points which you can redeem at various values for mostly travel related items. Anything else will be a far lesser value.

What are you really looking for in a card? If you're talking about 1.5% or 2% and you want that value consistently, you're probably best off with a cash back product. Points can be worth much more, or much less, than the stated earn rate. It all depends on what you plan to redeem for. Amex points mostly are good for travel redemption and not too much else. Venture is pretty much the same way.

My purpose is travel I dont want cash back so which points in the end can end up being more valuable is my question.

Garbage in, garbage out. You're asking for an answer but not providing necessarily information.

How much do you spend per year on groceries? Which grocery stores? Not all get bonus category treatment with Amex. How much do you spend on gas? Other spend?

Do you have status with any airlines, or fly any often? Your home airport? Domestic or international flights? Economy or business/first?

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: Capital One 2% versus Amex 1.5

If you redeem for points, you’re essentially getting 1.5 miles (after transfer) from the Venture and the same 1.5 for the EDP. Difference is that the Venture miles are worth more if used to travel without the transfer.

Don't forget Fidelity Visa 2%. And with Pay Pal M/C you mean the 2% card--not the Extras card. The pt. redemption on the Extras card is not that good...for gift cards it's only .6 of 1cpp.

Fidelity is a cool card but the 50$ minimum redemption has caused me to SD it. It's probably fine for someone that uses one credit card for all purchases though.

One positive about the Venture is the no minimum redemption requirement while other similar options have a minimum redemption amount. Of course you are also limited to using the 2% towards travel but the no minimum redemption is nice. Also lets not forget that you can redeem the same travel purchase over and over. While not ideal, it is a loophole to erase your non travel purchases with the Venture as well.
