Wha???I have closed many over the phone and have seen them report as closed with the credit bureau within a few hours. There is no magic card limit to keep a revolving history. Closing cards does not necessarily affect you score depending on your utilization before hand. I just closed three, over the phone, and did not lose one FICO point
