Re: Capital One...Possessed

FantumGrey -

Sorry it did work out for you.

I know they look at usage- and payment history.
Paid them both off completely for 2 months- had the DW buy groceries on them for next 2 months straight- paying them down to nothing every 2 weeks.

Keep at it- you will beat them

It was my New card that got the big CLI not the old one.

They can also see my credit report-
CCCU 5K with a $50 bal
WAMU 3K with a $49 bal
AMEX 2K with a $100 bal

Yes-

Reads required Cap one disclosure

"Anything else today?"

No!!! , Thank you Sooooo much.

I just opened a CC with Capital1 last week with a CL of $750. If I call them to request for an additional card for my DH as AU and ask for CLI, do you think they would increase my cc?

Re: Capital One...Possessed

You guys are great! I just called Capital One and got a $500 CLI and I didn't even have to threaten closing the account:smiley very-happy:....YAAY! for me. I just opened the card 5 months ago with a $300 limit. Got an automatic increase of $200 without asking just 2 months ago. So far I am loving them!! Now I have a $1000 limit

Oh and they are reporting my limit to Experian....

Re: Capital One...Possessed

I have a credit card with them for over 6 years and only 1 year ago they rised my cl to $5000.00, and this card has a $5 dollars fee every month. I finish paying a debt on this card, which it was over $4700, and they offer me blank checks for 18 months with 0% APR with only 3% fee per transaction. Great card!!! Give me a better rate when I don't need the credit card.

Re: Capital One...Possessed

I just realized the card I am closing will post next week with the new CL 4K.

Then on the 10 of Oct they should be combined and report 5K.

So for between Oct 10 and Oct 25 it will look like I have 9K with Cap One. LOL!!!!!!!!

Re: Capital One...Possessed

Thanks!  I just got off the phone with Cap1 and although they "were unable to increase the credit line at this time" I got them to reduce my rate from 19.15% to 14.90% with approx 75% usage (oops).  I was fully prepared to close and pay off this account as I have others with better options. (Even though I don't have great scores).

This site is great, thanks for all the advice, I am working on paying off my debt and it's a long, slow haul but I'm starting to make progress.

Re: Capital One...Possessed

The only way you can cancel a card is to do it in writing, not over the phone.  Be careful not to close your cards as it will affect your ratio of available credit.  This will cause your score to decrease.  Keep apx 5K of card open and do not use.  This ensures a revolving credit history

Wha???

I have closed many over the phone and have seen them report as closed with the credit bureau within a few hours.  There is no magic card limit to keep a revolving history. Closing cards does not necessarily affect you score depending on your utilization before hand. I just closed three, over the phone, and did not lose one FICO point

Re: Capital One...Possessed

Just called them with same method -- threatened to cancel.  CL went from $500 to $1000 immediately.  It's a start, I guess.  Was kind of hoping for the bigger numbers like some of y'all got.  Oh well.
