Re: Capital One Pre Qualify Link Question

Sorry to hear about this William 23, there is no harm again in trying to call and speak with another supervisory rep, and if no luck just wait and app again if you want this card in the future, for me personally I do not bite on any pre-qual offers, I do take my chances when I see pre-approval offers especially when I know my reports where soft pulled as well but this is just me personally.  Good Luck.

Re: Capital One Pre Qualify Link Question

I always suggest first timers start with the Standard Platinum or Classic Platinum non-rewards cards because the Rewards are a bit harder to get.  This is why you would see most of us with 2 Capital one cards, usually Classic and Rewards.  After we've had our classic for a few months, then we pre-qualify for the Rewards.  Wait 45 days from yesterday before applying again, then go for the Classic card... more likely to be approved.  They hold your recent app for 45 days, so go for it on day 46 just to be safe.

Re: Capital One Pre Qualify Link Question

I just paid down my Credit Card balances and my score jumped to 650's and 640's so I decided to try my hand at the Cap one Credit Card.

To my surprised I was approved for initial of 500.00 Credit steps program I hope. Wow this will go good with my Best Buy rewards and my Us.bank Secured Card.

I think ill chill with these card for another year and hopefully upgrade with us bank when my score gets high enough.

Thanks Guys for the information and I'm glad I went with the classic plat first

Re: Capital One Pre Qualify Link Question

Congrats, l-turner.  But for William23, I thought you were applying for the Classic Card that you pasted in the first post as it was the card you were pre-qualified for.  Did you stray off and just app for any of the Rewards?  Just wondering how your choice went from the pre-qual to a non-pre-qual?  That's all.

Re: Capital One Pre Qualify Link Question

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and just thought I'd share. I used the Cap1 pre-qualification link and it said I was pre-q for the classic card and the rewards card. I applied for both but was only approved for the classic card. CL is 500. This is despite the fact that I have an old (paid) charge-off fr Cap1. I don't know if it makes a difference that the charge off account was in perfect standing for 2 years and then charged off afte I couldn't pay for several months....

Anyhow, just an FYI...

From what i've read via this forum Captial One is pretty good with giving folks a second chance. You didn't state whether or not you wanted one card more than the other, but either way if you treat your new card well you will without a doubt be approved for the rewards card in about 8-12 months. Congrats!!!
