I think you and I closed our accounts around the same time. I remember reading baller's post (I think) soon after saying they started allowing accounts to be combined. Interestingly enough my old HSBC credit card was upgraded without any issues. It was my old Cap1 card that they wouldn't upgrade. Oh, well...

Thanks so much!
Congrats
If you PC a card with Capital One, does it change the age of the account and drop your AAoA?

I think it's down-right strange how they determine who can get a PC and who can't.
Last summer (before my AF was due) I even tried the back-door numbers posted on the sticky thread (they were already not working, but we didn't know it yet) and I got a CSR who I believe truly wanted to help me... she even mentioned - repeatedly - how "strong" my account was, and how it was (at that time) eight years old - but she just couldn't make it work. By the time the call was over, I actually felt bad for her... she tried so hard to help me, yet nothing would work. Meanwhile, other folks with a QS1 only a few months old were able to get a PC with a simple chat request. (For the record, I was - and still am - happy for others to get a PC even when I couldn't... it gave me hope!)
I'll admit it was discouraging after a few years (!), but in the end it worked out. That being said, I'm sorry it didn't come around for you or CAPTOOL in time...

Upgrading from a Platinum MC or QS1 with an AF to a non AF QS, no. I'm not sure what would have happened if UncleB had chosen the Venture1 instead.

Nope, that's the beauty of it... the account number stays the same, and the history (payment history, age, credit line, etc.) stays the same as well.

+1
If I had changed to the Venture One, it would have been no-AF as well, but the rewards would have only been at 1.25% and of course would have been restricted to travel purchases for full value ... everything else (account number, history) would have stayed the same with either option, though.
I quickly typed in that little box that I wanted the Quicksilver at 1.5%... LOL
Edited to add: they copied and pasted those details into the chat box... luckily I already knew what I really wanted.

No worries and thanks UncleB. My account had a $5 monthly fee, so that was a BIG determining factor for me.
