I've paid someone to clean my credit history up this year, and presently I'm seeking a credit card or short term loan to cover a financially smart purchase.
Well, my Equifax is at 744 presently, with Experian and TU hanging around 620. My EQ is much higher since my student loans were taken off of it.
And, I've looked into lenders and CC's which check only EQ. Capital One does, but I defaulted on a card in 2014. It was bought out by debt buyers, so it's off the EQ record as well.
Is there any sense applying for a Capital One card again? I'm unsure how long they may hold onto records, so I'm asking. Thanks for the help here.
I had waited on it for hours, but I finally applied to MainOne since they pull EQ. I was denied.

Waited for hours? This post is like 50 minutes from your initial post ![]()
Its too late now but you are aware that the people/person you paid to clean up your credit did not do anything that you could have done yourself in a few hours times right. Even so, it sounds like they did not do too good of a job anyway since you were denied with a score of 744...
Hard to say what you should apply for without knowing more about your profile. And Capital one pulls all 3 reports so i hope you do not go for them.
Check the prequal sites first before applying anywhere else
I waited for hours. I wrote this before applying for it. Tone down the personal jabs.
My default was 4 years old when I applied and was approved for the platinum. Like someone said above, they are very forgiving...probably the most forgiving.
Comenity pulled Experian for me. I think Penfed pulls Equifax only.
Tone down the personal jabs?
LMAO
Snowflake isn't that special afterall. *rolls eyes*
Enough already.
