@IncrsCreditScore wrote:Thank you. I understood that the 5% was just for the first 12 months. Just wasn't sure about the requirement to pay for the purchased with Walmart Pay in order to get the 5% reward. I do not have Walmart Pay. Will any of you advise what the pros and cons of using Walmart Pay are, please (that is aside from being able to get the 5% cashback for the first 12 months of having the card).
You scan your phone while your items are being rung up. When done, you stand and wait for them to thank you and you walk away. Your receipt is transferred to the app, and you can search items on all your receipts to see when something is purchased. No paper receipt, unless you want one, and any card can be used in Walmart pay. Even gift cards can be loaded.
Your app receipt is good for returns. You can even start a return from the app. I use it, it simplifies receipts and payment methods. Next month, I will pare it up with Chase Pay and get 5% on my Freedom card.
FYI, there is no standalone Walmart Pay app, it's included in the Walmart app. Looks like I'll have to re-install the Walmart app, I uninstalled it when it kept pushing notifications 4-5 times a day during last holiday season with stupid sales ads, it's my phone, not your free billboad . I don't use mobile pay, maybe I'm just a slow old timer, but I can get a card out of my wallet faster than unlocking my phone and opening an app. But I used Walmart Pay a couple times last year when they had a 3% in-store promo and it's not bad - you just tap in a 4 digit PIN when you open Walmart Pay and point the camera at the QR code on the register display.
The only thing is I posted on DoC that Walmart Pay doesn't give you a choice of which payment method you want to use and was told that's not true. Well, the first time I used it it charged a non-rewards Visa I have in my Walmart account to use on Vudu to toss it an occasional swipe. I sure don't remember it asking which card to charge, so to be sure I now have my Walmart store card as my only payment method. It's been over a year so I'll check out after Oct. 11 when my card goes over to Cap One for 5%.

I have a half-dozen cards loaded to mine (along with gift cards)... it definitely lets you choose which you want to use.
You can even turn gift cards "on" and "off", where it will use them before your credit card (or if turned 'off', it won't).
I like it WM Pay OK, but my gripe is sometimes I need a paper receipt and with WM Pay you usually don't get one. At the self-checkout I learned that if you drop a coin into the slot before using WM Pay it 'forces' a paper receipt since it's a split tender payment, but one shoudn't have to resort to that, IMO.
When change over takes place... Will the new Cap One backed card show up as a new acct. Just wondering. Really working for the 5/24 and that would hurt.
I guess I could cancel Walmart Store card before 10/14. 10k limit but rarely use.
Sorry if already asked and answered. Could not find it.
For some people this might be a step up maybe. It appears to be a step down for both my wife and I. We BOTH have credit scores OVER 700. My wife has a credit line of $6,000 on her current walmart MC through synchrony and I have a credit line of $3,600 on my walmart card.
When we login to our walmart accounts right now, there is an option to switch to the other account to see it. Through capital one, my wifes credit line is going down from $6,000 down to $1,600 and mine is going from $3,600 down to $700. We have been customers of capital one through other accounts for several years without any problems. If this is their way of thanking us but cutting our credit lines down by thousands of dollars for absolutely no reason, we will be closing both our accounts next week when the new cards get here and just sticking with the other accounts we already have.
It doesn't matter what benefits they offer when they cut our credit lines down to a level that should be reserved for people with absolutely no credit or bad credit!
I got another "welcoming letter" yesterday. So it msut really be getting close. I have an account with them from my old CC, but it's closed now. So I'll have to log in on the 14th to see if this card has been added, or if I have to set up a new account.

So this would mean that you have to hand over your phone(receipt) to a "greater" on the way out. Since this is Walmart. lol

@rcarpadakis,
I just spoke with Cap One about decreasing existing Walmart card credit lines. I was told they are transferring over accounts from Synchrony As Is to Cap One, there will be no changes to the credit lines. She said the online site is not working yet. You will have to wait until the actual transfer date, then link the walmart account to your capital one account to be able to see everything properly. I'm guessing what you are viewing may be some sort of beta test link, at least I hope so.
I'm logged in as of now, and do not see the "switch accounts" option. Everything seems to be normal.
Today is the last day to log in before it closes tommorrow at 3M ET. Before reopening on the 24th.
Also hope that everyone has paid their bill, as no payments will be accepted during this transition. Except by mail.
Thanks for this news.
I was wondering how I would be able to see my walmart account transfer over.
So I will wait until the 14th and then check and see if it is on my capone page.
