It’s definitely an improvement over what it was, although still not super exciting IMO. But it’s a step up.

Re: Capital One Walmart cards launching Sep 24th

I'm not a retail card kinda person (although I did apply for the BJ's card and still waiting on that letter in the mail), but there are a few items we purchase monthly online from Walmart for delivery, plus CHRISTMAS is COMING. I might step out of my comfort zone for this card, but Captial One has never been kind to us.

DH has 1 card with Cap 1 @ $750, we spend roughly $50-60 per month to keep it active since its his second oldest card (I'm an AU), we asked for an increase recently was denied for "too little spend", they've offered him increases in the past which he denied because he was naive back then and uses chase and Boa (his only 2 other cards) as his primary cards.

Amex BCP $35k
Chase FU $19.6k
BOA Cash Rewards $36k
BJs Perks Plus M/C $22k
Cap1 QS $4,950 (AU)
Best Buy $4k
Wells Fargo Active Cash $11.3

Tempting, but I wish the 5% for Walmart stores are not just for the first 12 months, as that is the primary appeal of Walmart to me. If I want online, I'd just shop at Amazon. Introductory Offer periods bother me a lot.

That's exactly why I stopped using my Sync Walmart card. It had a $10k limit, and when I applied for it I just assumed it was 3% all around at Walmart. I quickly realized it was online shopping only, and I don't do that. I don't plan my Walmart trips hours in advance to do "pickup". My Walmart trips are usually last minute, so I just went right back to using my DC for 2% instead of worrying about the Walmart card.

Same here.

Alredy get 2% at Walmart stores with my bofa cash rewards because it codes as groceries.
so I'll just pass for now.

Us bank code Walmart and Target as 2% groceries too. This card is basically 5% online only, I'd rather get the 2% as I don't shop at Walmart too often, but I shop at Target more.

New Walmart card information

This is taken from : https://www.doctorofcredit.com/walmart-launches-new-credit-card-with-capital-one-offers-5-back-for-o...

  • % back on purchases at Walmart.com, inclusive of Walmart Grocery Pickup and Delivery
  • 5% back on in-store purchases when using Walmart Pay for the first 12 months after approval as a special introductory offer
  • 2% back on Walmart purchases in stores outside of the introductory offer
  • 2% back on restaurants and travel
  • 1% percent back everywhere else with the Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard version

Other details:

  • No annual fee
  • No foreign transaction fee on the Capital One Walmart Rewards Mastercard version
  • The ability to redeem rewards at any time for travel, gift cards, during online checkout at Walmart.com, for recent purchases and statement credits
  • Card will be available for use instantly upon approval

Both store card and Mastercard will be available.

Since I use my Mastercard primarily for Walmart.com, I can see some benefit from the change as it goes from 3% to 5%. For those of you who do not have a restaurant / travel card, the 2% is a welcome bonus, but there are better cards out there.
