Like salt in the wound seeing these threads for Capital one giving CLI's
Checked today, nadda on either of my Crap 1's.
Congrats to those that did recieve one though - it's a miraculous thing getting an increase from them.
Is everyone who's getting CLIs on cards with AFs? I got an increase on my AF card (the one I'm thinking about closing of course) but nothing on my card without an AF.
Yeah Buttercupbass, I feel like an Academy Award Loser... you still have to smile and clap for the winners because the cameras are on you, but under my breath it's a different story. But, all kidding aside, I'm really happy for those getting increases and keeping us informed. I just don't understand something, is it just ME or are most of the people NOT checking their accounts online often then out of the blue... I decided to check my balance online one day and Holy Smokes!!! Geez, I'm clicking that CLI button every 6 months like I'm at the Casino Slot Machine and calling the CSRs to see if there are any new Offers on any of my Cap-1 accounts.
JayRizzo,
How is your utilization and payments?
I have a fairly high utilization "when they report" and I haven't been paying in full... and I am getting no love from Capital One either.
It's not hard to have high utilization when I only have a $500 CL though.. I think I spend atleast that much at the gas station each month

What I would suggest is stop using the card until you can get it paid off and then from that point forward make payments several times a month if necessary to get your utilization down before the statements posts because whatever balance you have on your statement is what is used to calculate utilization for the month.
There is never a reason to carry a balance forward and end up paying interest. Avoid that if at all possible.
And if you already knew these things then I apologize for butting in.

I did not get a CLI increase from Capital One over the Holidays, probably because they doubled my CL during December 2009. I don't know how Capital One decides who gets an increase and who does not, but I'm sure there is a logic to it and that they are not deliberately trying to hurt ppl's feelings over it. Maybe who they decide to offer a CLI to is based on credit scores, recent inquiies, util, the number of years a cusomer has been with them, and other factors?

That could very well be but my scores are pretty good, no inquiries, uitilzation at 1%, and a customer for 13 years and I can't remember the last time I got a CLI.

Thanks for the advice,
Actually it's a matter of bad timing and thinking that if I let them make some interest I'd get a CLI... and I was wrong lol
This year I think I will be paying all but $10 each month just before the statement posts, I don't want it to report as $0 but I don't want them making interest off me if it's not going to benefit me.
It also may have to do with a newer auto loan (almost 6 months).
It's not a huge issue for me to get a CLI from them but like most people, I just like to see it happen because it feels good.

It NEVER benefits you to pay interest. But the CCC certainly likes it.

Checked my capone account today (like i didn't already know what the result was going to be, and yep just as I thought, no CLI), but I did get a CLI on my Zale's card ( I guess that's like saying I'm not a surgeon, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night..LOL)...I keep saying I'm going to close my CapOne account, the $500 isn't going to hurt my utilization and it's not my oldest card, I just keep logging on hoping to see a reason why I should stay with them, come on CapOne give me something...
Congrats to all who did receive a a CLI gift from them
