You don't have to be 50 to join AARP, nor do you need an AARP membership to get the credit card. I'm 35 and have both. I get 15% off at Denny's and Outback/Bonefish Grill/Carabba's and 10% off my AT&T bill.

Re: Card for Gas and Dining Out?

I know you don't have to be a member to app card. But I did think you had to be 50 for AARP membership. Thanks for info

I think they consider you a "junior" member, but you still get the discounts.

Re: Card for Gas and Dining Out?

I don't need the AARP card for dining out. I just ask for the senior discount. Smiley LOL

Chase AARP has the best reward value. If you are not of typical AARP age, it comes down to whether you care about carrying around such a card. For me, I'd feel patently ridiculous swiping an AARP card while in my 20's but it depends. Some people don't care, and I say, more power to them.

I'm with KDM on this one.  I just can't do it.  I mean, having to carry the green Fid Amex, and now this?  One can only bear so much!
