Hey guys!
As you may know, I just got approved for the Barclays rewards for $2,500, I have the BoA Cash Rewards for $2,000, And I have the Ashley Furniture and Car Care One Card each for $1,000. I'm closing my Capital One Secured card ($750) this week as soon as I receive and activate my Barclay card. I tried using my Ashley Furniture card to keep it open and bought a $150 set of two lamps. They more than double charged me, synchrony wont help me and Ashley won't admit their mistake. Ashley did this before and double charged me for a bedroom suite. At any rate I'm probably going to have to pay that, because neither will budge and I'm ready to get rid of Synchrony. I have had both of their financing cards for at least a year now.
I would like to get a card that I can regularly get 6 to 12 month 0% interest offers, for furniture, car repairs, etc. I would also prefer a card that has either a EQ or EX FICO score, but I realize that is more few and far between and TU is usually offered. And I don't care what the rewards are (miles, points, cashback - HOWEVER miles would be best). I know I probably can't get everything I want out of a card. That being said I would like to get an AMEX/Discover at some point and if you guys think either or both of those would be good for me, that would be great!
Over half of my inquiries are falling off by the end of this year, leaving me with 4-5 inquiries and about 8 months of history with Barclays by the new year. My FICO scores range from 708-725 (I haven't updated my signature). I DON"T have any derogatories (just a student loan balance). So what recommendations do you guys have for my card needs AND do you think I will be ready to apply for them by the end of the year (in otherwords, how long do I need to give Barclays so I don't scare them)?
Thanks guys for all of your help so far, you've helped me come a great way from when I started! ![]()

Not sure if any card other than intro rates will regularly offer that over and over. But you can get long term cards. And churn. Like chSe slate 21 months no apr. Or discover 18 months 0 interest.you got double charged. I would never pay that. If you mean you did not pay within promo period and all the interest hit to double your amount that is common in store cards. Even co branded cards. So then yes. You must pay. But if it's straight out fraud. Then no way fine print is a must to read. Any way. Good luck
The Big Ticket card comes to mind, for 6 month 0% on purchases of $600 or more.

Chase Slate comes with EX FICO scores now.

I'd say Discover. Lots of members have gotten 6-12 mos no interest offers if they don't get a permanent APR reduction (or they are offered either/or).
I'd maybe wait to apply until 1/16.

I wasn't looking for financing. I just made a purchase on it for a set of two lamps, went to pay it in full the next day (just used it to keep it open) and saw they charged me more than twice what the lamps cost. I simply used it to keep it open (because I haven't used in 8 months). I called Ashley, they said to call Synchrony. Synchrony said to call Ashley because they said they put the charge through. I called back, a supervisor got smart with me and said that it was too bad the purchase already went through and there was nothing she would do (and hung up on me). So yeah not going anywhere. But essentially I'm going to have to pay $400 for two LAMPS. I'm very ticked off about it and will call again tomorrow, but I'm sure it will go nowhere.
I'm at the point now where I don't have to have financing cards and so its not essential, but if I needed a 0% interest period to help me, I'd like that. It seems like Discover would be the best bet, I just wouldn't get the FICO score I wanted. That being said, would the Discover IT Miles, fit my needs for the most part?
Hit up Sync, tell them that the charge is fraudulent and you will not pay it. I'm assuming you kept a receipt? Then, report them to the Better Business Bureau.

It sucks that this happened to you.
But it doesn't seem like this is Synchrony's fault.... sounds like some shady practices by Ashley Furniture. I'd call Ashley up and point out this thread to them and see if they're willing to make things right. This is bad publicity for Ashley over a few hundred dollars.

Yeah it's not synchrony. Its Ashley. I had to fight with them for about two weeks before it got fixed with the bedroom suite. I hate the nearby stores. They have some of the rudest people I have ever met. I'm going to go in person and speak with someone and show them my account and the receipt, hopefully someone helpful will be there.

It's past the point where anyone at the store will help.
Go to their w website and look for regional/corporate numbers. Begin posting your experiences on Yelp, FB (if they have a presence there.) The local store clearly doesn't care, but corporate should if the one store is making them look bad.
Good luck!

Firstly, I was charged again and the total ended up being $605 for two lamps (oh hell no). Well after several times calling Synchrony and Ashley Furniture and getting transferred to the same hateful lady at Ashley, Synchrony sent me to an account specialist who agreed that Ashley furniture keep putting erroneous charges on my card and filed a dispute. He told me I could call Ashley and notify them or wait until they received the notification. I called them (and got transferred to the same hateful lady) at Ashley who after I notified her of the dispute said she would call Synchrony and get it handled. She called back and told me the charge fell off. I checked my account and sure enough they got the correct price fixed and the other pending charges off!
And to top it all off, when I opened up the lamps, the parts that hold the shades to the base of the lamps weren't included. I had to call and have them order the parts for me and I should receive them within.....21 BUSINESS DAYS. Yeah I'm not dealing with this store again, at the very least not at this location. They are just too much trouble. Thanks guys for helping me out. As with anything in credit, persistence pays off! ![]()
