Yes, it does depend on the provider.  We got CareCredit to pay for some veterinary specialist services, but I was talking to my dentist about it and she told me in all candor that while she accepts CareCredit, she prefers when patients pay with a regular CC because CareCredit actually costs her a good bit of money when someone uses it at her office.

Apparently GEMB is able to provide those 0% offers by making the provider pay for it, which is why your 0% terms depend entirely on what plans your provider offers (and is willing to pay for).

ETA: I'm not saying the provider pays the finance charges directly, but they pay some sort of participation fees which apparently make up for the loss of finance charges on the plan.

I guess everybody has to help share the cost of exchanging funds and financing.  We don't normally step into the merchant's shoes, though.  It's nice to look at different perspectives.

Re: Care Credit Charge Card Reporting

As I stated in my earlier post, I asked for a CLI and they doubled it.

Re: Care Credit Charge Card Reporting

I've had the CareCredit card for about 4 years or so.  I started at a 500 CL and I've stayed there, but I never asked for an increase.  I got the card to pay for some vet bills for my sick poochie.  It's nice knowing I have a medical credit card if I need it.  It's now PIF because the int rate is scary!

Re: Care Credit Charge Card Reporting

Alright, Jaybee, here is a better question, then.  I have not made any payments to them since this is the first transaction I have made on the account, so, based on payment history alone, they would probably not be able to increase my CL.  My scores have not improved but 20 points since I got the card only 3 months ago, so I don't think pulling a hard would do anything.  So, I know I am not due for an automatic CLI any time soon.  My question for you, then, is since you have made payments to them and everything, have you received any additional unrequested CLI's from then other than the one that you asked for?  If so, how often.

And I did get ahold of my dentist and they signed up my $403 for 12 months no interest.  I think I will have it paid off well before then.  She told me that it is their policy that they sign everyone up for the 12 month period if it is over $300, and 18 months for anything over $1000.  Pretty generous.

That's disheartening.  Sounds stingy like they never review your account.......ever.

Re: Care Credit Charge Card Reporting

I have only had the card for a little over 5 months now. So I have not had an unrequested CLI.

I am happy that you asked them about that intro rate.

If you are trying to get a CLI, maybe you should say that you want to get something done and want to be able to take advantage of their "excellent" intro rate while it is still available.

That is what I said, and I went from 2K to 4100. I asked for 2k and got 4100.

Re: Care Credit Charge Card Reporting

When I applied for the account originally, they asked how much the procedure would cost.  I asked for 3K.  I got 1K.

I have had one of their tire cards for 5 years and didn't get a CLI until I asked for it last year. I know better now, so I ask every three months (no hards) and still have yet to use the card. I went from having a 700 CL to having it at 2500, in under 11 months.

It is say to say that on some cards they do not do auto CLI's

Re: Care Credit Charge Card Reporting

Do you speak to a person or do you use their automated system to request the CLI?
