Re: Cash Back Credit Cards

Also, how do you guys maximize the cash back after the inital 90 day promo ?

By selecting cards that maximize rewards on our spend.

If you want to do the same then run the numbers for your spend for any rewards card you're considering.  Spend categories and volume in each category varies form person to person so you can't just poll others to sort it out for yourself.  You need to look at where your money is going which is something that you should be doing in addition to budgeting.  With that info and the cash back rates for cards you're considering you have everything you need to calculate.

I saw some people had on their signatures they made almost $13,000 with their cash back credit card??? HOW!!!!

Again, there isn't a universal solution.  First, for $13K in rewards you have to have sufficient spend.  Rewards will always be a small percentage of spend no matter how great the rewards cards you select.  You can certainly maximize rewards for your spend but you have to know where your money is going in order to find cards that best suit your spend.  I certainly don't have sufficent spend to get $13K in rewards per year.

Also, you always have to consider your sources.  If someone can get $13K from a cash back card that person could probably get much more from miles/points cards and careful redemption strategy suited to the individual.  $13K cash back sounds dubious to me.  Most cards at best offer 5% on certain categories and have caps.  Even if all rewards were earnied at 5% (highly unlikely) that would require $260K in spend.  As stated by longitme, that's certainly possible with MS but that topic doesn't comply with forum rules here.

Humuhuk, how did you get 214k credit in cc's? Total? WOW!!!!

Same as anyone does -- have the credit profile and income that supports such limits.  Those will determine the limits (starting and CLI's), APR's, etc that one qualifies for.

Is their a section on the forums or a specific thread that discusses cash back promos?

This is it right here.  You're not going to find one single resource that you can reference.  It will require reading and digging.

Chase will combine your inquiries or hard pulls to one if you apply on the same day.

This means you can apply for Freedom (1 inquiry/HP)

and also

AARP (1 inquiry/HP)

However, it will only show on your credit report as 1 HP, since chase combines them.
