**bleep**, that's a sweet deal.

I wish the Southwest rapids reward visa would offer something similar

I'm sure AMEX is going to change all travel rewards soon. Wonder if Cap1 do anything for Venture!

In all fairness, the Marriott offer beats the BCP.  (I normally don't like to mix the concepts of cash versus points but the posting begged the question.)

After deducting the AF, the BCP earns 4.4% on exactly $6K grocery spend. Bonvoy Boundless does have similar $95 AF but it also gives you a free annual night which more than covers the AF.  BCP has no similar credit.

Further complicating the calculation is that Bonvoy points are estimated value at only 8/10 of a cent on average, so 6 points is less than 6%. However, since the AF is covered by the free night, Bonvoy Boundless comes out ahead on $5K grocery spend or less since it earns (6 x 0.8) or 4.8% return valuation.

Also, BCP only earns that 4.4% if you spend exactly $6K on groceries. (Spend any more and you earn 1%, lowering your average. Spend any less than $6K and that 4.4% drops since there is less earning to offset AF.  Spend less than about $3K and BCP costs you more than carrying no-AF BCE.)  On the other hand, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless would earn that 4.8% on any purchases up to $5K because there is no effective AF to offset after the free night credit!

This is all based on pure grocery spend. BCP also pays 6% on streaming services which could help to defray AF. Valuation of that would have to be personalized to the consumer's actual profile but could change the equation.  The 3% categories are insignificant since several other no-AF cards pay that much or even better on those categories.

I think this is a hell of a deal.  May have to retire my BCP for a bit.

Depends on your situation. I don't have a lot of traditional grocery spend, but upgraded from BCE to BCP as part of a targeted $250 offer. For me, the AF is a sunk cost as part of "playing nice" and not attracting AA by downgrading within 12 months. So for me, it really is 6% on the margin...actually 11% with a +5% promo on $200 of grocery spend (+$10).

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Would be a true winner for me if it included warehouse clubs but I understand the exclusion.  A third of our monthly grocery budget goes to Sam's Club.
