Although the other person app'd for 3 cards at once, and then tried to recon the denial of one of the cards; it was after that his cards (as well as the cards of the person he was living with) were shutdown. Perhaps Chase is cracking down kinda like Comenity? I'm doubtful it was the utilization that did it. I went up to 70% util on my Freedom when I first got it (0% APR, don't judge ). Maybe they are starting to look at number of Chase cards issued per address? I don't know, just throwing ideas out.
The other person also eventually admitted that he did MS on those accounts, maybe that was a big factor.

From what I recall the other thread had the poster apping for a bunch of cards in a short period of time in addition to the 3 chase apps. We won't be able to speculate about the cause here without further info from OP. Could be any number of issues that would trigger something like this.
The other guy got shut down for MS. This guy, I would love to know the reason. If it is just to many inq or reaching 50% on multiple cards from the same issuer. Please update us on the reason. Thanks
Well whatever the reason for the other person's shutdown, the point I was trying to make is that it seems new apps with Chase are making them take a closer look at your accounts. I couldn't help but notice for the past few months there have been a lot of 30 day messages after app'ing with Chase (as opposed to instant approvals). Perhaps they have slowed down their app process in order to get a closer look, not only at the new application, but at previous accounts as well. They have been changing their policies lately, so who knows exactly what they're doing.
This was a few years ago, but FWIW Chase shut all my accounts down suddenly - I only found out when I logged into my account one morning. Called the regular line and was told to wait for the letter. Called the backdoor number, a specialist asked me a few questions about my my util had increased, and she also asked what other accounts I had - I answered truthfully. All accounts restored w/in the hour.

What did they say was the reason they shut you down? I'm glad you were able to get them restored; hopefully OP will be able to as well.

I'm guessing because of the increase in their util since that is what they said the rep was asking about.
Increase in util%

That's what it said in the letter they sent? Was the util increase on their cards or other cards (or both)? How high was the util?

The CSR at Chase told someone recently that Chase is backlogged with apps due to the influx of a high number of apps from people concerned about 5/24 and the higher signup offers on some of their cards. I have seen people getting instant approvals, but for those with a lot of credit already with Chase its going for a secondary review. They were doing the same thing before only it was happening on a way faster turnaround.
